Cheshire Pub Co. open their Ninth venue – "The Shady"

The Shady Oak, now known, and previously referred to by its local’s as ‘The Shady’, is a beautiful canal side country pub nestled on The Shropshire Union Canal. With stunning views of, and short walks to both Beeston and Peckforton Castles, this pub has historically been one of Cheshire’s best known and much-loved destinations.

The Shady is the ninth acquisition for the Cheshire Pub Co. group and is set to become a popular place for not just land folk, but boat folk too. Matt Parker, Managing Director for the Cheshire Pub Co. group says, “our team feel proud to have the opportunity to breathe life back into this great pub which has served both land and boat folk for generations”.

The surrounding area is home to locals, and hosts visitors from far and wide who come to marvel at the view from the pub garden and terrace. Our team also look forward to welcoming adventurers on the Sandstone Trail, or those visiting local attractions or events at Oulton Park and Bolesworth, just to name a few.

The Shady also offers seasonal camping (hardstanding for camper and caravans available) and six canal moorings. The site also has excellent facilities which are available to boaters for a small fee. The food served at The Shady will be everything you’d expect from a Cheshire Pub Co. menu. Dishes include our signature Atlantic Cod and Chips, our Sticky Beef Salad, the Cheshire Pub Co. burger, and unique sharing suggestions such as The Shady Ploughman’s, The Boatman’s Board and a sharer inspired by vegan restaurant, Otto Vegan Empire in Bramhall, The Plant Powered Platter. Guests will also be able to grab themselves freshly brewed coffee, a pot of fine tea or a good ol’ simple Boater’s Brew, served up in a proper mug!

The famous Sunday menu, which offers a range of different roasts will also be available to take away, along with the signature Fish and Chips. The Shady will maintain the group’s child friendly ethos, offering a nourishing children’s menu, and colouring pages and crayons to keep little ones entertained whilst parent/adult folk rest in the outside nest and garden, or fireside during Autumn/Winter.

The chefs will also present daily specials and deliver a ‘Senior Social Lunch’ menu (two courses for £12.50 Monday – Friday) which will be available to guests who want manageable portions which are tasty and affordable. Senior guests are also invited to sign up to the monthly Senior Social Club, where they will receive the latest news about friendly afternoons which gift complimentary entertainment and cocktails on arrival.

The team at The Shady will welcome you with a warm smile, great Food, and a great selection of drinks, including locally brewed ales from Weetwood, and favourites such as Amstel lager and a ‘craicin’ pint of Guinness.
