A Taste of South Africa, Rooted in Cheshire

The Weston Biltong Company is the creation of Ryan, Sheryl, Jake, and Charlotte Walker, a Cheshire family with a passion for South African flavours. With a heritage deeply embedded in fourth-generation farming and agricultural college educations, the Walkers are committed to using only the finest British meat in all their products, supporting local farmers and ensuring exceptional quality.

Their love affair with South Africa began in 2008, where they were captivated not only by the stunning landscapes but also by the rich culture and traditions of the South African people. Biltong and Droëwors hold a significant place in South African culture, with a history stretching back to the pioneering forefathers of the nation.

Inspired by these traditional delicacies, and a hobby biltong drier birthday present, the Weston Biltong Company was born. Initially created for the family’s own enjoyment, their delicious products quickly gained popularity, delighting many across Cheshire and North Staffordshire.

Our Process & Products

The Weston Biltong Company’s process begins with the careful cleansing and tenderising of the British beef in vinegar. The meat is then marinated for 24 hours in a secret blend of herbs and spices, including coriander, black pepper, and other special ingredients, allowing the flavours to fully mature.

The marinated meat is then hung in custom-made driers, where a constant airflow and low heat work to dry the meat. This crucial process, which can take anywhere from 3 to 7 days depending on the thickness, surface area, and fat content of the steak, requires careful attention to ensure the meat is dried, not cooked.

Once dried, the meat is thinly sliced and seasoned to create the various biltong flavour variations. The Weston Biltong Company currently offers 14 different biltong taste sensations, ranging from the Original flavour to savoury, sweet, and spicy options, catering to a wide range of palates.

In addition to their signature biltong, they also produce Droëwors and Boerewors. Droëwors, a dried beef sausage, is made with minced beef, herbs, and spices, and dried in the same manner as biltong. The Weston Biltong Company offers three Droëwors flavours: Original, Chilli, and Garlic.

Boerewors, meaning “Farmer’s Sausage,” is a meaty sausage made from British beef and a blend of herbs and spices. The Weston Biltong Company uses no water, rusk, or fillers in their Boerewors, ensuring a high-quality, authentic product. These large, traditionally curled sausages boast a distinctive South African taste and aroma, and are perfect for barbecuing with a fresh salad or grilling or frying with mash and gravy.
