At a Black Tie dinner held in the Pavilion at Chester Racecourse over 300 of Cheshire’s hospitality sector turned out to crown this years winners of the Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Awards. Held annually for the last 14 years these awards are voted for by the public, with over 20,000 votes cast and then each of the top 4/5 venues in each Category is mystery dined or shopped to come up with the roll of honour.
The awards complete an amazing few days of Food and Drink focus around Chester and Cheshire as record numbers of 29,700 attended the 3 day festival over Easter held at the racecourse. Taste Cheshire General Manager, Hannah Lucy described the number of votes cast as “Simply phenomenal. In 2014 we had over 5,000 votes and this year that number exceeded 20,000 a 400% increase. The public have definitely voted and they have told us exactly who they want winning our awards. To my knowledge there is no awards for our sector anywhere in the country with anything like this number of votes cast. My sincere congratulations to every venue or business nominated and the list shows us that right now the Cheshire hospitality scene has never been better”.
