The Suburbs is still going strong….despite what you might have heard #Blog

Nearly ten years ago, a local businessman by the name of Kingdom Thenga had an idea. He believed that you could enjoy high quality cocktails, great music and good vibes without having to be in a city centre. Kingdom invited you to step out of the city, and into The Suburbs. And, for the past decade The Suburbs has been the social hub of Hoole high street; celebrating birthdays, engagements, new jobs, and welcoming new faces to the area. A local hub, bringing the community together.

But like all community hubs, The Suburbs has not just basked in the good times, it has also faced the bad. The challenges to the hospitality industry are greater than ever with the rising energy costs, staffing difficulties and cost of living crisis. The Suburbs, like all businesses, have been forced to take stock, to ensure their long term survival.

When asked, Kingdom himself said, “We are so grateful to still be here, and that has only happened due to the phenomenal support we receive from our locals and friends. We are still standing through your support. As we start our 10th year, we are going back to our roots, making sure that more than ever before we are giving back to the community we belong to and together we are better, stronger and happier.”

Having recently closed, with the intention of selling, the former “Hollows” or “Suburbs Eaterie” side of the building, The Suburbs has reverted to it’s original size, to where it all began. Kingdom and his team are proud to announce a whole host of new deals coming to the venue from the 30th January onwards  as well as an exciting new cocktail menu with the sole aim of going back to what they do best.

The team are keen to let people know that despite recent reports on social media and in local press, they are not going anywhere. They are still serving food, in a more relaxed setting, to pair with the cocktails, great service and wine, beer and spirits knowledge that they have always been known for.

The new offers include,

The After Work Social, shake off your day in the city at home in the Suburbs,

4pm – 7pm, Tuesday to Friday, 2 for £12 cocktails, £4 bottled beers and, £5 house wines (175ml)

Chinwag Tuesdays  – offering 3 dishes from the nibbles menu and cocktail for £20

Wednesdays will be #Wednesdays  – Dine at The Suburbs and tag a photo of your meal on social media of 25% off your food!

Thenga Thursdays have always been about a good catch up with friends, so the team are offering a Charcuterie board and a whole bottle of wine for just £25

Sharing Sundays are all about grabbing a sharing board and getting 25% off a bottle of wine to go with it.

The Suburbs team is also planning on bringing back the Gin and Rum festival they have previously run at Hoole Community Centre.

For more information about the deals and goings on at The Suburbs, please follow their social media accounts including @suburbsch2 on Instagram or you can book a table for one of these fabulous February deals at the-suburbs.co.uk

Ten years on and a lot has changed, but the story of one man’s belief in his community shows how people continue to have faith in one another’s dream.

Ubuntu – I am because we are.
