What Chester in 2022 looks like for CityFibre #Blog

CityFibre began building Full Fibre broadband infrastructure in Chester in Spring 2021, to improve connectivity in the area. This year is a big one for CityFibre in Chester, we’re excited to confirm that in the coming months residents will be able to benefit from the service, as more internet service providers will be confirmed, and start to take advantage of the service being put into the ground. Our roll out plans this year will see us continuing to build Full Fibre connections in Upton, Hoole and Newton, with the first live connections coming shortly. We plan to have the majority of Chester (both businesses and residents) connected and enjoying Full Fibre by the end of 2023.

Residents in Chester often ask us what the benefits of Full Fibre are, what the difference is to standard broadband and what it means for them. Simply put, it’s better reliability – no more connection dropouts because your broadband isn’t strong enough or fast enough to cope with what your household needs. Better speeds – it’s gigabit capable which means speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps. The fibre cables being installed are sustainable, more hard-wearing and weatherproof, so you’ll find it to be a far superior experience than the existing copper cabling that most of Chester has currently.

As well as building better infrastructure, we want to get involved with the community. We intend to be at the next upcoming Taste Cheshire Farmer’s Market events, meeting residents to share our roll out plans, chat about our project in Chester and hand out any goodies we have! We will also be working with Cheshire West and Chester Council, One Chester Bid, Marketing Cheshire and a number of other key stakeholders in the city to see how we can get involved with the city across 2022.
